Helpline no. 14401 for info on power cuts launched

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has introduced a new helpline called ‘Urja Mitra’ for updates about electricity supply. Consumers in India can now dial 14401 and get an update from their respective power distribution companies about outages in their area through the ‘Urja Mitra Helpline’.


India’s light utility helicopter maiden flight successful

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has successfully completed test flight of indigenous Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) Bengaluru. The LUH will replace the military’s obsolescent fleet of Chetak and Cheetah helicopters that have flown for over three decades.


Intel acquires Google’s Project Tango partner Movidius

Intel has acquired computer vision firm Movidius, which partnered with Google to develop 3D space mapping technology for Project Tango devices. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Thithi wins Best Film honour at 1st BRICS Film Festival

“Raam Reddy’s Kannada film Thithi was conferred the Best Film award by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu at the closing ceremony of the 1st BRICS Film Festival. Thithi, which earlier won various honours at 68th Locarno International Film Festival, Marrakech International Film Festival, 19th Shanghai International Film Festival and 63rd National Film Awards.
South African actor Thabo Rametsi won the Best Actor (Male) award for his role in Kalushi, Russian actress Yulia Peresild was given the Best Actor (Female) honour for her film “The Battle for Sevastopol” and Chinese director Huo Jianqi was announced as the Best Director for helming Indo-Chinese co-production film, Xuan Zang.”


Filmmaker K G George to be Honoured With J C Daniel Award

National award winner and veteran director K G George has been selected for the JC Daniel award 2015, Kerala Government’s highest honor for outstanding contribution to Malayalam cinema. The award, conferred by the state government annually in recognition of an individual’s contribution to Malayalam cinema, comprises of Rs 1 lakh and a citation.
