Yasir Shah suspended by ICC

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah was on 7 February 2016 provisionally suspended for failing a dope test by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The test, conducted on 13 November 2015, was found to contain the presence of chlortalidone, a Prohibited Substance which appears in Section 5 of the World Anti-Doping Agency list (in the category of Specified Substances).Shah has so far taken 76 wickets in 12 Tests and became the fastest to complete 50 wickets in nine Tests — a record for Pakistan. He has also played 15 one-day internationals and two Twenty20s after making his debut in 2011.


Sapna Devi clinches gold in Wushu Taolu; Anjul Namdeo gets bronze

“Sapna Devi won a gold in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) women’s Wushu Taolu (Changquan) competition held at the Rising Sun Sports Complex in on 8 February 2016.
Sapna scored 9.45 points to emerge as the winner while the silver went to Susmita Tamang of Nepal who had a score of 8.72. Pakistan’s Nazia Parvaiz took the bronze with a score of 6:30 points.
In the men’s competition, Sri Lanka’s PLH Lakshan scored 8:86 to win the gold medal while Bijay Sinjali of Nepal earned silver with a score of 8:80 points. For India, Anjul Namdeo was forced to settle for bronze after scoring 8:66 points.”


North Korea launched the Kwangmyongsong-4 satellite

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on 7 February 2016 successfully launched a Kwangmyongsong-4 satellite. The earth observation satellite launched from the Sohae Space Center in Cholsan County, North Phyongan Province. DPRK’s top leader Kim Jong Un signed the order to launch the satellite on 6 February 2016. The satellite is going round the polar orbit at 494.6 km perigee altitude and 500 km apogee altitude at a 97.4-degree angle of inclination, with a cycle of 94 minutes and 24 seconds.


Narendra Modi inaugurated Paradip Oil Refinery in Odisha

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Paradip Oil Refinery in Odisha on 7 February 2016. It is 11th refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited. This was dedicated to the nation by PM Modi. The foundation stone for the Paradip Oil Refinery was laid by ex-prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 24 May 2000.
The refinery was expected to start production in the third quarter of 2013. Due to delays the cost of refinery project has increased by 2.5 per cent. The cost of the refinery is 34555 crores.”
