Atul Sahai appointed CMD of New India Assurance
Atul Sahai has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the country’s largest general insurance company New India Assurance. The post had been lying vacant since July 2018 after former chairman and managing director G Srinivasan retired.


India to retain top position in remittances with $80 billion:World Bank
India retain its position as the world’s top recipient of remittances this year with its diaspora sending $80 billion back home.India is followed by China ($67 billion), Mexico and the Philippines ($34 billion each) and Egypt ($26 billion).


Axis Bank inducts Amitabh Chaudhry on its board
Axis Bank inducted Amitabh Chaudhry as additional director on its board. He will replace incumbent Shikha Sharma whose fourth term has been curtailed by the RBI by nearly two-and-half years. The board also gave its nod for the reappointment of Samir Barua, Som Mittal and Rohit Bhagat as independent directors.


Mexico’s Vanessa Ponce de Leon wins Miss World 2018 Crown
Mexico’s Vanessa Ponce de Leon won the coveted Miss World 2018 crown at a grand event held in the Chinese city, Sanya. Thailand’s Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan was declared the runner-up. Former Miss World Manushi Chillar (India) presented the crown to the new winner during the pageant in which 118 contestants participated.


Janhvi Kapoor to get Norwegian honour
Actress Janhvi Kapoor will be awarded ‘Arets Stjerneskudd’ rising talent of the year by the Norwegian Consulate General in Mumbai. Janhvi, who made her debut with “Dhadak”, will be felicitated at an event organised in association with theatre chain INOX.

Vice President of India Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu released two books on the compilation of selected speeches made by the President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind in the first year of assuming the office. The books are titled as, ‘The Republican Ethic’ in English and ‘Loktantra ke Swar’ in Hindi.


Anushka, Chaitanya youngest winners at U.S. Kids Golf’s first event in India
Golf in India took a major step towards the next level with the successful staging of the U.S. Kids Golf India Tours first event at the Jack Nicklaus designed Classic Golf and Country Club in Gurugram. The effort bore fruit as Anushka Gupta emerged champion in the U-7 girls’ category. Chaitanya Gupta won among the U-7 boys.
