Visually-challenged Indian-American in key US post
Obama administration was appointed a visually-challenged Indian-American Sachin Dev Pavithran to a key administrative post in an independent US agency devoted for people with disabilities. Mr. Pavithran is the Program Director of the Utah Assistive Technology Program at Utah State University’s Center for Persons with Disabilities, a position he has held since 2011. So, Sachin Dev Pavithran was appointed as a Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board member by Obama.

Lalith Babu(India), Tiviakov(Netherlands) on top in Commonwealth chess
Grandmasters M R Lalith Babu and Sergei Tiviakov scored final round victories to reach the top of the table with 9.5 points in the Apollo Engineering College Commonwealth Chess Championships in Chennai on 01 December 2012.Based on Progressive score Tiviakov was stood in a first place but the Commonwealth Championship goes to Lalith Babu because of Netherlands is not member of commonwealth countries.Tiviakov was awarded a cash purse of Rs 1,50,000 along with the Commonwealth International Open title, while Lalith Babu was crowned the Commonwealth Champion 2012 along with a trophy and a cash award of Rs 1,25,000.In Commonwelth Under-16 Prathyusha, who is studying in Sri Prakah Educational Institutions in Visakhapatnam got the gold medal.In the past she got gold medal in Under-10,12,14.
