Atal Bihari Vajpayee Honored with Friends Of Bangladesh Liberation War Award

Former Prime Minister Of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee was set to be honored by Bangladesh for his outstanding support for the country’s independence from Pakistan in 1971 when he was a Lok Sabha member. Former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was the first to be honoured with award. President Pranab Mukherjee also has received this award in 2013.


Mauritius Designated Ameenah Gurib-Fakim as First woman President

The Government of Mauritius designated Ameenah Gurib-Fakim as new President of the Indian Ocean island nation. Now this appointment is subject to Mauritian Parliament approval. She will succeed Former president Kailash Purryag, who had stepped down as the island’s figurehead and was appointed in 2012 by then Labour party government of former premier Navin Ramgoolam.


Meena Hemchandra Appointed as Executive Director of RBI

Meena Hemchandra appointed as the Executive Director (ED) of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with immediate effect. As an ED, She will look after Department of Banking Supervision, Department of Co-operative Banking Supervision and Department of Non-Banking Supervision.


Philipose G Pynumootil is new Asst Chief of Naval Staff (Air)

Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil on 1 June took over as Assistant Chief of Naval staff (Air). Prior to this appointment, Pynumootil served as the Principal Director of Aircraft Acquisition.


Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa Sworn In As Arunachal Pradesh Governor

Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa was sworn-in as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh on 1 June. President Pranab Mukherjee had appointed him as Governor on 12 May  2015 after then Governor Lt General (Retired) Nirbhay Sharma was transferred to Mizoram.
