Pakistan Decided To Introduce EVMs In Two Years

Pakistan has decided to introduce Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in two years before the next general elections due in 2018. Each new voting machine would cost around USD 300 and the country needs at least 1,50,000 machines for about 70,000 polling stations in the country. The EVMs reduce the time in both casting a vote and declaring the results compared to the old paper ballot system.


The National Voluntary Blood Donation Day Observed On 1 October

The National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1 October celebrated every year in India since on 1 October 1975. It is organised by National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC) and National AIDS Control Organisation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of India. The main objectives of observing this day are :- To increase awareness among the people and the importance of voluntary blood donation. To achieve 100 percent Voluntary Blood Donation, so as to be able to give the safest blood to the needy patients. To have enough blood stock in our blood banks for any eventuality. To inspire those who has not donated blood but are in good health, to start donating blood. To inspire those donors who donate blood only for their relatives or friends, to donate voluntarily.


 First Case Of Ebola Virus Diagnosed In The United States

The United States diagnosed its first case of the Ebola virus. The person was diagnosed for the disease after being hospitalised with the symptoms.As per the US health officials, the person became infected with the Ebola virus in Liberia and traveled to Texas, US.Ebola virus disease (EVD) also known as Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever (EHF) . According to the World Health Organization, the world’s largest outbreak of Ebola has infected over 6500 people across five West African countries, and killed more than 3000, till date.


Microsoft Unveils Windows 10

Microsoft Corporation has officially announced that new “Windows 10” Operating System which will replace the current operating system “Windows 8”. With this Microsoft is restoring some of the more traditional ways of doing things and promises that Windows 10 will be familiar for users who are using older versions of windows operating system.


Indian Women Won Gold Medal In 4x400m Relay At Asian Games 2014

Indian Women’s 4×400 relay team On 2nd October won a Gold medal in 17th Asian Games held at Incheon ,South Korea.
