National Deworming Day

India observed the first National Deworming Day in schools and preschools (anganwadis) on 10 February 2016. The main theme of Deworming day is to combat parasitic worm infections among school and  preschool (anganwadi) age children. This albendezole 400 mg chewable tablets are provided to children at government, government-aided, and private schools, and anganwadis with free-of-cost.


UP minister Kailash Yadav dead

A senior Samajwadi Party leader and a cabinet Minister in the present Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, Kailash Yadav died on 9 February 2016  Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. Kailash Yadav, MLA from the Jangipur constituency in Ghazipur. Mr. Yadav held the Panchayati Raj portfolio in the Akhilesh cabinet. Born in 1951 in a village in East UP’s Ghazipur district. He was a Minister of State for Revenue and Industrial Development under the Mulayam Singh regime 2003-07.


Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince arrived to India

Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived to India on 10 February 2016. This is Sheikh Mohammed’s 1st state visit to India.The two countries will discuss ways to enhance ties in a range of areas including energy, economy and security and are expected to sign a number of agreements in sectors like oil nuclear energy, IT, aerospace, railways and electronics. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited UAE in August, 2015, the first by an Indian Prime Minister after a gap of 34 years, and Al Nahyan had received him at the Abu Dhabi airport.


Mukesh Bansal resigns from Flipkart

Mukesh Bansal has resigned as head of commerce and advertising business at Flipkart and will be moving to an advisory role, just weeks after a top-level restructuring that resulted in cofounder Binny Bansal’s elevation as the CEO of India’s largest online retailer. Chief Business Officer Ankit Nagori, too, has resigned. Mukesh(40) will continue with Flipkart until the end of March, while Nagori will stay on for three months.


Hindu Marriage Bill approved in Pakistan

 The Hindu minority community in Pakistan will soon have a marriage law as a parliamentary panel has unanimously approved the Hindu Marriage Bill. The National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice on 9 February 2016 passed the final draft of Hindu Marriage Bill 2015, where five Hindu lawmakers were specially invited. The committee adopted the bill unanimously after making two amendments to fix the minimum age of marriage at 18 and making the law applicable to the whole country, Dawn news reported. The bill will now be tabled in the National Assembly where it has fair chances of being passed as the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party is supporting it.


India won 1000th gold medal at the South Asian Games

India, the overall champion over all the 11 previous editions of the South Asian Games, on 10 February 2016 crossed a historic milestone of winning its 1,000th gold in the Games.The host which entered the fortnight-long competition with a tally of 900 gold medals, crossed the landmark when swimmer Veerdhawal Khade won the men’s 50m butterfly title in Gawhati on February 10.India had won 44 golds in the inaugural edition at Kathmandu in 1984 followed by 61 (Dhaka, 1985), 91 (Kolkata, 1987), 61 (Islamabad, 1989), 64 (Colombo, 1991), 60 (Dhaka, 1993), 106 (Chennai [then Madras], 1995), 102 (Kathmandu, 1999), 103 (Islamabad, 2004), 118 (Colombo, 2006) and 90 (Dhaka, 2010). The host is also likely to overhaul its best ever tally of 118-59-37 achieved in Colombo 2006 with five days remaining.
