Subhash Chandra Garg Appointed As Executive Director of World Bank
Senior IAS officer Subhash Chandra Garg has been appointed as the Executive Director (ED) of World Bank on 10 September. At the time of appointment, Garg, a 1983-batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre was serving in Rajasthan. He has experience in different ministries under state and centre. The ministries served by him are ministries of rural development, agriculture, finance, human resource development, power, personnel and general administration and Cabinet affairs.
Legendary Nazrul Singer Firoza Begum Died
Prominent Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer Firoza Begum died in Dhaka. She was 84. She was best known for singing Nazrul Sangeet, a musical work composed by Bengali poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. She recorded her first Islamic song by Gramophone record company in 1942. Firoza Begum was honoured with the Independence Day Award in 1979 and the Sheltech Award in 2000.
