President Pranab Mukherjee Conferred Award of Honour of Rotary International
The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee was conferred Award of Honour by Ron Burton, President of Rotary International at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 11 February. The Rotary’s highest award, Award of Honour is recognition for Heads of countries or governments who have rendered unique service to the humanity and served the country and its people upholding values reflected in Rotary’s motto Service Above Self.
IOC lift Ban On Indian Olympic Association
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) lifted the suspension of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) after an ad-hoc meeting of its Executive Board in Sochi on 11 February 2014.The decision of IOC of lifting the ban imposed on IOA came just after the IOA held elections as per IOC directives on 9 February 2014.With this decision, the Indian atheletes will now be participating under the Indian flag at the closing ceremony of Winter Olympics at Sochi, Russia.
