Gujarat becomes first cashless state for PDS
Cashless system was introduced in the Gujarat. There by Gujarat becomes first in India for introduce cashless system in PDS. From now onwards the beneficiaries of National Food Security Act carry only Aadhar Cards to get their food grains in Gujarat.


Govt Appoints Ajay Tyagi As New SEBI Chief
The Govt on 10 February appointed Ajay Tyagi, an additional secretary in the finance ministry, as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Tyagi, who will be the ninth sebi Chairman, will take over U.K.Sinha the second longest serving chief of the capital markets regulator after D.R. Mehta.


Mission XI Million launched to promote football among school Children
The Union Government on 10 February 2017 launched Mission XI Million initiative to promote football awareness among school children. The Programme was launched by the Union Minister of State for youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel in the presence of the President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Praful Patel in New Delhi.


Govt to open 56 Post Office passport Seva Kendra facilities
Head Post Offices as Passport Seva Kendras, the government has now decided to scale up this programme by opening 56 such facilities across the country. The Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Posts had earlier decided to join hands to deliver passport – related services to the citizens. The pilot project of the post office passport Seva Kendras have been running successfully to Mysore and Dahod.


Kerala’s Nilambur teak to get GI tag
Kerala’s Nilambur teak known internationally for its superior timber quality and elegant appearance will be added to the list of Kerala Produces with the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Due to its superior mechanical and physical properties as well as aesthetic appearance, the teak was exported to England and other parts of the world.


GMR Hyderabad Airport bags CAPA award
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), which operates Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, has own the center of Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) Chairman’s order of Merit for its focus on environmental sustainability and becoming the first airport in Asia Pacific to become carbon neutral. GHIAL received the award during the CAPA 12th Annual India Aviation Summit in Mumbai earlier this week.


Sudarsan Pattnaik Creates World Record with Tallest Sand Sculpture
Sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik on 10 February created a Guinness World Record by sculpting a more than 48 feet tall sand castle at Puri beach. Sudarsan along with 45 students of his sand Art Institute created this 48 feet 7 inch tall sculpture which beat the previous record which was in the name of a sand artist from USA. The record-breaking sculpture was built with a message of world peace and featured sculptures of Mahatma Gandhi, Gautama Buddha, and Nelson Mandela.


National Women’s Parliament begins in Andhra Pradesh
India’s First National Women’s Parliament (NWP) began on 10 February 2017 in Amaravathi, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. The three day conference, which is the first of its kind, is being organised by the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The theme of the conference is “Empowering Women-Strengthening Democracy”. This inaugural session was attended by spiritual Buddhist leader Dalai Lama and Andhra Pradesh CM. N. Chandrababu Naidu.


Official mascot of FIFA U-17 World Cup Kheleao
The Official mascot of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, “Kheleao” was on 10 February unveiled at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, It was unveiled, with just 238 days remaining for the start of the tournament. In a glittering ceremony attended by Sports Minister Vijay Goel, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee and AIFF president Praful Patel.


China releases theme, priorities of BRICS
China has released the theme and the cooperation priorities of the 2017 BRICS Summit, which is scheduled to begin in September. The Summit will be held under the theme BRICS “Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future”. It will also feature five key priorities such as depending cooperation, strengthening global governance, carrying out people- to- people exchanges, making institutional improvements and building broader partnerships.
