Ashu Khullar appointed as Citibank India CEO
Citigroup has named Ashu Khullar as the new India head after its current chief executive officer Pramit Jhaveri steps down. Khullar is currently the head of capital markets origination for the Asia-pacific region. Having joined Citi in 1988, he has worked across both developed and emerging markets in Europe, Middle East Africa and India.


Lok Sabha 2019 elections will start from 11th April
Election Commission of India announced that the Lok Sabha 2019 elections will start from April 11, in seven phases. Code of Conduct for parties kicks in from 10th March and there are close to 90 crore eligible voters. Date of counting will be on the 23rd of May 2019. The election in 22 States and Union Territories will be conducted in a single phase.


India’s data usage to grow at 73% CAGR by 2022: Assocham-PwC Study
India’s data consumption is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 72.6 per cent to 10,96,58,793 million MB by 2022, according to a study. “With lower-than-ever data tariffs and increasing number of smartphone penetration in the country, which is around 40 per cent as of 2017, it is safe to assume that the Video on Demand (VoD) market will be a significant beneficiary of these developments.


Japan announces Rs 22 lakh for Kolkata museum
The Japanese government announced a donation of some Rs 22 lakh ($31,800) to the Rabindra Bharati Museum in Kolkata in a bid to strengthen historical and cultural ties with India.


‘Metro Man’ Sreedharan appointed principal advisor to MRTCs in J&K
The Jammu and Kashmir Governor administration has approved the appointment of “Metro Man” E Sreedharan as the principal advisor to two mass rapid transit systems to be built in Jammu and Srinagar. The governor administration has approved setting up of two MRTCs Jammu Mass Rapid Transit Corporation and the Srinagar Mass Rapid Transit Corporation for the two capital cities.


Karnataka sought Rs.2,064 crore for drought relief
Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy sought early release of Rs.2,064.30 crore funds to provide relief to drought-hit farmers in the ongoing rabi season. In addition to floods, Karnataka reeled under severe drought both during Kharif (summer) and rabi (winter) seasons of the 2018-19 crop year (July-June).


Kavinder Singh Bisht fetches gold at Finland boxing tourney
Kavinder Singh Bisht struck gold while Shiva Thapa and three others claimed silver medals to end a fine Indian campaign at the 38th GeeBee Boxing Tournament in Helsinki, Finland. Signing off with silver medals were three-time Asian medallist Shiva Thapa, rookie Govind Sahani, Commonwealth Games bronze-medallist Mohammed Hussamuddin and Dinesh Dagar.


India & ADB sign $26 Million Loan Agreement for Additional Financing to Assam Urban Project
The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $26 Million Loan Agreement. It will provide additional financing for improving drainage infrastructure in Dibrugarh town of Assam under the ongoing Assam Urban Infrastructure Investment Program.
