Pune to host India-China ‘Hand-In-Hand 2016’ training
The India-China Joint Training Exercise “Hand in Hand 2016” is scheduled to be held in Pune from November 15-27. This would mark the 6th annual joint training exercise between the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army of China. It is aimed at honing military skills of the two armies by sharing expertise in drills while tackling insurgency and terrorism.


India, Bhutan signs agreement on trade for better bilateral relations

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Bhutan’s Economic Affairs Minister Tengye Lyonpo Lekey Dorji signed the agreement in New Delhi. The first agreement on trade and commerce between both countries was signed in 1972.


Union Govt unveils steps to boost cybersecurity

Union Government has unveiled a slew of measures in an attempt to strengthen cyber security in India. It was announced by the Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad at the Economic Editors’ Conference-2016. The conference was organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Finance in New Delhi.Central Government is taking measure to strengthen Cert-IN (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), the governments’ cyber security arm Mandatory for all organisations having a significant IT infrastructure will need to appoint cyber security officers.


Professor Raj Bisaria selected for Kalidas Samman

Madhya Pradesh Government has selected renowned theatre personality Prof Raj Bisaria for the prestigious ‘Kalidas Samman’ national award for 2015-16. He will be bestowed with the prestigious award for achievement in theatre in a ceremony to be held in Ujjain. He was born on November 10, 1935. He is director, producer, actor and educationalist. The Press Trust of India (PTI) describes him as the father of the modern theatre in North India.


IMF approves largest-ever loan for a Middle East nation

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a three-year $12 billion loan program for Egypt, the largest such package to a Middle East nation. The loan will help in boosting Egypt’s foreign currency inflows, which have dwindled since the 2011 Arab Spring uprising, and revive the African nation’s economy. Egypt will receive an immediate disbursement of $2.75 billion.


Batra 1st Indian to be International Hockey Federation chief

Narinder Batra has become the first Indian to be elected the President of the International Hockey Federation. He was voted to the top post by an overwhelming margin during the penultimate day of the 45th FIH Congress in Dubai. Batra, who is the president of Hockey India, defeated David Balbirnie of Ireland and Australia’s Ken Read to become the 12th FIH President and also the first Asian to grab the post.


World Pneumonia Day Observes today : 12th November

World Pneumonia Day is observed across the world on 12 November. The day is annually observed to raise awareness about pneumonia, the world’s leading killer of children under the age of five; promote interventions to protect against, prevent and treat pneumonia; and generate action to combat pneumonia. This year theme is, “Keep the Promise, Stop Pneumonia Now”.
