Lewis Hamilton Won Russian F1 Grand Prix

British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has won the 2014 Russian F1 Grand Prix  on 12 October. With this win British driver Hamilton strengthened his position further in the present F1 season with 17 point lead over teammate Nico Rosberg. Rosberg and Finland’s Valtteri Bottas (Williams) couldn’t manage to outrace Hamilton and took the second and the third places respectively.


World Bank Group Launched New Global Infrastructure Facility

The World Bank (WB) has launched the new Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) to specifically cater to the infrastructure needs of the emerging economies and developing countries. The GIF will channel money towards bankable infrastructure project in such countries. GIF also places importance on sustainable development. Its key focus will be on climate friendly infrastructure investments and projects that will boost trade. The GIF will collaborate with other international and multilateral agencies which provide loans and financial assistance to countries across the globe.


 International Edition of “Encyclopaedia of Hinduism” Released

Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari released International Edition of “Encyclopaedia of Hinduism” by India Heritage Research Foundation. This Encyclopedia has 11 volumes and has approximately 7000 entries. This Encyclopedia has been prepared under the following areas like art, Hinduism in global context, Women’s issues, scholarships in Hindu studies, Spiritual disciplines, social institutions & movements, sciences, religion & spirituality, polity, philosophy, language & literature, history, historiography & geography. This provides authentic records of the world’s oldest living spiritual tradtion Hinduism.


Canberra Ranked ‘Best Place To live’ By OECD

Canberra in Australia is the best city in the world to live, according to a report by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Canberra is the only city in the Australian Capital Territory, which led the regional ranking. Australia led the country rankings, followed by Norway.The OECD ranked 362 regions of its 34 member nations in its survey.


Roger Federer Won Shanghai Masters Title

Roger Federer of Switzerland won Shanghai Masters On 12 October.He defeated Frenchman Gilles Simon in the final.It was his 81st career title.
