‘Arjuna Award’  For Virat Kohli, PV Sindhu and Ronjan Sodhi gets ‘Khel Ratna’ Award

On 13 August The Government of India announced the Arjuna Awards and Khel Ratna awards for the year 2013 .Ace Double trap shooter Ronjan Sodhi was recommended for the prestigious “Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna”.Cricketer Virat Kohli  and shuttler PV Sindhu among the 14 sportspersons picked for the “Arjuna “award .This year’s Arjuna awardees list features just one boxer, World Championship bronze medallist Kavita Chahal.Government of India has recomended the Arjuna Award for the following Members:-
Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna :- Ace shooter Ronjan Sodhi
The Arjuna awardees:- Virat Kohli (Cricket), Chekrovolu Swuro (Archery), Renjith Maheshwary (Athletics), P V Sindhu (Badminton), Kavita Chahal (Boxing), Rupesh Shah (Snooker), Gaganjeet Bhullar (Golf), Saba Anjum (Hockey), Rajkumari Rathore (Shooting), Joshna Chinappa (Squash), Mouma Das (Table Tennis), Neha Rathi (Wrestling), Dharmendra Dalal (Wrestling), Amit Kumar Saroha (Athletics).


Rajya Sabha Passed  The ‘Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2012 ‘

On 13 August Rajya Sabha passed a bill to make registration of marriages mandatory.The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2012, which was passed by Rajya Sabha, seeks to provide compulsory registration of marriages irrespective of religion. The registration of marriages will not apply to those who have registered their marriage under any other law.At present, there is provision for registration of only births and deaths.


Chad Foreign Minister Moussa Faki Mahamat Visited India

Moussa Faki Mahamat, Minister for Foreign Affairs and African Integration of Republic of Chad visited India on 12-13 August .During his visit he met Salman Khurshid, external affairs of India and discussed on increasing bilateral cooperation between the India and Chad. Chad is a member of TEAM-9 (Techno-Economic Approach for African Movement) initiative comprising of eight West and Central African countries seeking to benefit in technical and economic spheres through cooperation with India.
