Molinari Rail to set up manufacturing unit in India
Swiss major Molinari Rail will set up a manufacturing and assembly centre for auxiliary power units for diesel locomotives in India by next year. Molinari Rail AG has entered into a strategic pact to design, manufacture and deliver the auxiliary power units (APUs) for 1,000 diesel locomotives to be built in India for Indian Railways.


India-Nepal Joint Training Exercise Surya Kiran culminates

The tenth edition of India-Nepal Joint Military Training exercise was conducted at Army Battle School (NABS), Saljhandi in Nepal from 31 October to 13 November 2016. The bilateral Military Training exercise had played important role in boosting defence ties between India and Nepal.In this exercise, Indian Army is being represented by elite Kumaon Regiment, while Nepal Army is being represented by Jabar Jung Battalion. It provided an ideal platform for troops of the two countries to share their experiences on Counter Terrorists Operations and Disaster Management. During training other activities conducted included basic familiarisation with each other’s weapons & equipment and concepts while operating in Counter Terrorism environment.


Termination clause in N-deal with Japan not binding on India: Government

The Union Government has said that the “termination” clause in the recently signed historic civil nuclear deal with Japan will be not binding on India. But the “termination” clause merely records the “views” of the Japanese side considering its “special sensitivities” as Japan is the only nation to have suffered a nuclear attack. Besides, the Union Government has also insisted that India has made “no additional commitments” over the similar agreements signed with the US and other countries.

Hollywood actor Jackie Chan received his little gold statuette, an honorary Oscar for his decades of work in film on November 13th at the annual Governors Awards. While receiving the award Chan (62) praised his hometown Hong Kong for making him “proud to be Chinese,” and thanked his fans.


Indian-origin humanitarian gets Global Citizen Award

An Indian-origin man from South Africa was awarded the Global Citizen Award for his “innovative and visionary” contribution to the global community. Imtiaz Sooliman founded the internationally-lauded Gift of the Givers Foundation, which is Africa’s largest disaster relief organisation. “It will build faith and confidence in others to support African NGOs in the future”.


YES Bank appoints Amresh Acharya as Head Global Indian Banking
