Nuclear Capable Prithvi II Missile Successfully Test Fired

India on 14 November successfully test-fired its indigenously developed Nuclear Capable surface-to-surface Prithvi-II missile with a strike range of 350 km from Chandipur Integrated test range in Odisha. The surface-to-surface missile was test fired from a mobile launcher. The missile launch was conducted as part of operational exercise by the Strategic Force Command (SFC) of the defence services.


Mitch McConnell Elected As US Senate Major Leader

Mitch McConnell was elected as the Majority Leader of the 100-member US Senate. He became the Majority leader after he was unanimously re-elected by the Republicans. Republican Party gained majority in the mid-term elections held for the US Senate. He is the 15th Senate Republican Leader and the second Kentuckian to lead his party in the Senate. He is also the longest serving U.S. Senator in Kentucky history. Currently he is the 7th most-senior Senator, as well as the 4th most senior Republican member.


Children’s Day Observed Across India on 14 November 2014

India celebrated Children’s Day on 14 November 2014. Children’s Day, also referred to as ‘Bal Diwas’ is celebrated every year on 14 November coinciding with the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. The day is observed on Nehru’s birthday to showcase his love for children and he is also regarded as Chacha Nehru for children.Children’s Day was first celebrated in 1964 after Nehru’s death.


Maneka Sanjay Gandhi Launched The Nationwide Bal Swachhta Mission

The Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Sanjay Gandhi on 14 November launched the National Bal Swachhta Mission in New Delhi. 14 November is the birthday of first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and is celebrated as Children’s Day in India.
