YSR Congress Party Won In By-Election

In the by-election in A.P for 18 Assembly seats and ! Lok sabha seat, YSR congress party won 15 assembly seat and 1 Lok sabha seat.The rulling party congress won 2 seats .TRS won 1 seat .Drawing a blank , the Telugu Desam suffered the dubious distiction of not having won a single seat in 41 successive by-elections since 2009.


Zakir Hussain Calls Off Israel Visit

“Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has called off a series of performances scheduled to be held in Israel later this month, in the wake of an appeal made by 85 artistes, writers and activists. The Indian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (INCACBI) had appealed to Mr. Hussain ‘as an artiste of conscience’ to cancel the scheduled performance since it would “lend a stamp of approval to Israeli policies of colonialism, apartheid and occupation.” “


Fatou Bensouda appointed as the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Gambian lawyer Fatou Bensouda was sworn in on 15 June 2012 as the International Criminal Court’s new chief prosecutor. Bensouda was elected at the latest session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute (ASP) in December 2011 for a nine-year term.

SBH Cuts Interest On Retail Loans By Upto 175 bps

SBH has reduced interest rates on retail loans by upto 175 bps with effect from 17 June 2012 for housing loans, the interest rate was reduced by 25 points to 11-11.50 percent .which on car loans it would be 11.50 percent against exisiting 12.25 percent.


SBI Cuts Lending Rates by 50-350 bps For Small Units, Farm Sector

 Country’s largest public sector lender SBI has cut lending rates by 50 to 350 bps for SMEs (Small & medium enterprises) and agricultural segments.


Multi Level TDS on Software To Go From July 1

The Finance Ministry has done away the Tax deduction at source obligation at each of the software distribution chain a TDs level of 10 percent was applicable at each level of the software distribution chain.The TDs exemption would be available only when the software is acquired in subsequent transfer, without any modification.This could mean that the benefit of TDS exemption will not be available for un branded software (or) customized software.
