SC orders new survey to identify bonded labour
The Supreme Court on Monday directed all states and Union Territories to conduct fresh surveys to identify bonded labour problems in the country and regretted that a large number of children continue to work as domestic help even after the enactment of the Right to Education Act.

World Food Day is celebrated every year across the globe on 16 October in honour of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945.The aim of this World Food Day is to raise awareness on global food problems and to create a sense of solidarity in the fight against poverty, hunger and malnutrition.
Two Americans share 2012 Nobel Prize for Economics
American economists Alvin E Roth and Lloyd S Shapley on 15th October 2012 shared the 2012 Nobel Prize for Economics, which they won “for the theory of stable allocations and the practice of market design”.
