Union Government Launched Venture Capital Fund for SCs

Union Government has launched Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes Scheme to encourage budding and existing entrepreneurs from Scheduled Castes (SCs). It was launched on 16 January by Union Social Justice Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot in Delhi. The Government of India has launched this Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes with initial capital of Rs. 200 crore. IFCI Ltd. will act as Sponsor, Settler and Asset Management Company (AMC) / Nodal Agency to operate the scheme. The IFCI Ltd. would contribute Rs.50 crore which would comprise Rs.5.00 crore as sponsor and Rs. 45 crore as investor.


Stephen Constantine Appointed As Indian Men’s Football Head Coach

Stephen ConstantineStephen Constantine was appointed as the head coach of Indian men’s football team on 16 January. He will supervise both the senior and under-23 football teams. Constantine of England replaced Wim Koevermans of Netherlands, who resigned in October 2014 after India faced a 3-2 defeat against Palestine in a friendly match. It is expected that he will take charge of the team by first week of February 2015.


Jammu and Kashmir gets National E-Governance Award 2014-15

Jammu and Kashmir has bagged the National Award for e-Governance for the best district-level initiative in the country. This award will be presented during 18th National Conference on e-Governance to be held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat on January 30-31, 2015. Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)’s e-Panchayat project was shortlisted among 53 nominees for spot study which was done by PriceWater Coopers Ltd and officers of Department of Administrative Reforms of PMO in November-December 2014.


Veteran Freedom Fighter Ghelubhai Naik Died

Veteran Gandhian and freedom fighter Ghelubhai Naik was died on 16 January in Dangs district of Gujarat. He was 90. He was well-known for his social work and tribal development in Dangs district of Gujarat.Being Gandhian and freedom fighter, he was close to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Following Gandhian principles, he started his social work in Dangs as the Sarvodaya worker in 1948. He along with Chunilal Vaidya had set up Swaraj ashram in Dangs district for spreading the education among the tribal. He also played important role in changing names of thousands of tribal people, who earlier beared names like Ravio, Thagio, Nariyo etc, in order to bring them in mainstream society.His lifelong social work played key role in promoting education, de-addiction and spreading awareness about health and upliftment of Dangi tribe.
