Krishi Unnati Mela 2017 inaugurated in New Delhi

The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Radha Mohan Singh on 15 March 2017 inaugurated the Krishi Unnati Mela 2017 in New Delhi. The mela is jointly Organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s welfare. During the mela, technical sessions on various themes are planned to educate farmers on various Agricultural technologies and govt schemes for agricultural development.


Babul Supriyo Named Vice-President of FIFA U-17 World Cup LOC

Union Minister Babul Supriyo has been appointed as Vice-President of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Organizing Committee. Babul Suprio named VP of FIFA U-17 World Cup on 15 March 2017 by Praful Patel, President of All India Football Federation (AIFF). For the first, India to host FiFA U-17 World Cup from October 6 to 28, 2017. The six cities Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Kochi, Margao, and Guwahati will host this World Cup.


Amarinder Singh takes Oath as Punjab CM

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Chief Capt Amarinder Singh took Oath as New CM on 16 March, 2017. This occasion was held at the Raj was held at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh. The Oath of office was administered by Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore. This was the captain Amarinder second stint as Punjab CM. Navjot Singh Sidhu & Manpreet Singh Badal were also take Oath as cabinet ministers along with Amarinder Singh.


US Senate confirms Seema Verma for Health care post

Indian -American Seema Verma is appointed for a top health care position in the Trump administration. Her appointment was confirmed by the US senate after 43 votes out of 55 has secured by Verma. Verma is expected to play a key role in the government’s bid to “repeal and replace”,She is known as the architect of health care reforms in several states in America.


Commerce Minister launched Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme

Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES) on 15 March 2017. Sitharaman said that the scheme aims to address the needs of the exporters and added that the focus in not just on creating infrastructure but to make sure it is professionally run and sustained.


Justice Sharma sworn in as Upa Lokayukta of Assam

Former Judge of the Guwahati High Court Chittaranjan Sharma appointed as Assam’s Upalokayukta by Governor Banwarilal Purohit recently. Lokayukta is an anti corruption Ombudsman appointed in states. For the very first time the Maharashtra state has been initiated Lokayukta in the year 1971. At Present the Lokayukta system is functioning in 17 states.


Union Government approves National Health Policy

The Union Government has approved the National Health policy, which proposes to provide assured health services to all in the country. The policy was approved on 16 March 2017 at the meeting of Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The policy increases to gambit of sectors covered in the Primary Health Center (PHC) level and envisages a comprehensive approach.

Pakistan Cricket Board Suspended Mohammed Irfan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended left arm pacer Mohammed Irfan in the spot fixing case which came to light during the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) Irfan and two other cricketers were interrogated by the PCB’s anti corruption unit for PSL. Irfan has been charged with failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department full details of any approaches or invitations received by a participant to engage in corrupt conduct.


India’s contribution to UN increases to Rs.244 crore

India’s Contribution to the United Nations has increased to Rs.244 core from Rs.157 crore during the fiscal year 2016-17 said by Union external Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Indian Government has also made voluntary contributions to the tune of 22 crore to international Organisations.
