Pakistan Successfully Test-Fires Hatf-IV Ballistic Missile
Pakistan on 17 November conducted a successful test launch of Intermediate Range Shaheen 1A (Hatf IV) Ballistic Missile. The successful launch was aimed at re-validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system. Shaheen1A Missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 900 kilometres.Shaheen-1A with its highly accurate and indigenously developed guidance system is amongst the most accurate Missile System.
India Successfully Test Fires Akash Missile
India on 17 November successfully test-fired its indigenously developed surface-to-air ‘Akash’ missile from a test range in Odisha as part of user trial by the Air Force. The sophisticated Akash missile was test-fired from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur. ‘Akash’ missile is a medium range surface-to-air anti-aircraft defence system with a strike range of 25 km and can carry a warhead of 60 kg. It has the capability to target aircraft up to 30 km away and is packed with a battery that can track and attack several targets simultaneously. ‘Akash’ has been developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been named as the top decision maker in a list of 100 global thinkers by a leading American foreign policy magazine. Narendra Modi is placed at the top followed by German Chancellor Angella Merkel and BJP President Amit Shah in the decision makers category of the ‘100 Global Thinkers’ by the Foreign Policy magazine.

SAIL Chairman CS Verma was conferred with the IIM- JRD Tata Award for Excellence in Corporate leadership in Metallurgical Industries for the year 2014. He is presented with a scroll of honour and a cash prize of 5 lakh rupees. He is the first SAIL Chairman to bag this recognition.
