Ajit Chandila banned for life, Hiken Shah for 5 years

Ajit Chandila was banned for life and Hiken Shah for five years for their involvement in the match-fixing scandal during the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on 18 January 2016.The BCCI’s Disciplinary Committee, headed by president Shashank Manohar and also comprising Jyotiraditya Scindia and Niranjan Shah, made the decision after a meeting in Mumbai. Chandila and Shah appeared in person before the committee on December 24, 2015 and were given time till January 4 to file a written response to the charges against them. The committee met again on January 5, when Shah appeared in person, made an oral submission and a written reply to the findings of the inquiry against him.


World Bank to fund 20 million US dollar for reconstructing Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

The World Bank decided to give an assistance of 20 million US dollar to reconstruct the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park . The park was devastated during cyclone Hudhud in October 2014 in Visakhapatnam. It is for the first time that World Bank is directly involved in a zoo.


Andhra Pradesh Government reconstituted the Commission for Backward Classes

On 18 January 2016, Andhra Pradesh Government reconstituted the Commission for Backward Classes with immediate effect.AP Commission for Backward Classes (APCBC) will be a two member commission with Justice KL Manjunath, (Retd.) as its chairman and Member Secretary, APCBC as the other member.The Chairman of APCBC shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of assumption of office.The previous commission term was expired on 24 September 2011.


French President declared economic emergency

On 18 January 2016,French President Francois Hollande declared a state of economic and social emergency to redefine country’s economic and social model.President Francois Hollande has set out a €2bn (£1.5bn) job creation plan in an attempt to lift France out of what he called a state of “economic emergency”.
