ISRO selected For Indira Gandhi Prize For Peace

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been selected for the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2014 in recognition of its path-breaking achievements including the Mars Orbiter Mission and contribution in strengthening international cooperation in peaceful use of outer space.


India and Australia Signed Five Agreements

India and Australia signed five agreements, including on exchange of sentenced prisoners and on tourism, as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott held bilateral talks in Canberra, Australia. The two nations also plan to have a Free Trade deal by the end of 2015.


Pandit Jasraj Conferred with Sumitra Charat Ram Award 2014

Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj was conferred with the Sumitra Charat Ram award 2014 for Lifetime Achievement. The award, named after Sumitra Charat Ram – founder of the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in 1952 – was instituted in 2011 to honour outstanding contributions in the field of art. The previous awardees are Pandit Birju Maharaj, Kishori Amonkar and Mayadhar Raut.
