Kofi Annan Resigns as Syria Peace Envoy
Kofi Annan resigned as the UN Peace envoy to Syria on 2 August 2012 by complaining the international community had not done enough to support his bid to persuade Bashar al-Assad to accept a peace plan. His term as UN peace interlocutor was set to expire on 31 August 2012. Annan was appointed the UN-Arab League Peace envoy to Syria in February 2012. A formidable diplomat Annan was assigned with the task to explore for the peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis and secure a peaceful transition of the regime.
Reshuffle in the Cabinet Ministry of Odisha : Patnaik
The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik reshuffled his Cabinet Ministry on 2 August 2012. He dropped Five dropped five influential ministers and inducted 9, including six new faces, in a major reshuffle of his council of ministers dropped Ministers are ; Ghadai, Prafulla Samal, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pushpendra Singhdeo and Pratap Jena.The Six new Ministers appointed by the Chief Minister of the State are:-Pratap Keshari Deb, Subrat Tarai, Rajanikant Singh, Sarojini Hembram, Arun Kumar Sahu and Rabi Narayan Nanda.
