Kofi Annan Resigns  as Syria Peace Envoy

Kofi Annan resigned as the UN Peace envoy to Syria on 2 August 2012 by complaining the international community had not done enough to support his bid to persuade Bashar al-Assad to accept a peace plan. His term as  UN peace interlocutor was set to expire on 31 August 2012. Annan was appointed the UN-Arab League Peace envoy to Syria in February 2012. A formidable diplomat Annan was assigned with the task to explore for the peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis and secure a peaceful transition of the regime.


Reshuffle in the Cabinet Ministry of Odisha : Patnaik

The Chief Minister of Odisha  Naveen Patnaik  reshuffled his Cabinet Ministry on 2 August 2012.  He dropped Five dropped five influential ministers and inducted 9, including six new faces, in a major reshuffle of his council of ministers   dropped Ministers are ; Ghadai, Prafulla Samal, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pushpendra Singhdeo and Pratap Jena.The Six new Ministers appointed by the Chief Minister of the State are:-Pratap Keshari Deb, Subrat Tarai, Rajanikant Singh, Sarojini Hembram, Arun Kumar Sahu and Rabi Narayan Nanda.


Andrian Clinches Gold by a Finger Tip

Nathan Andrian clinched the Olympic 100 m free style gold by a fingertip on 1 August 2012 to become the first American to hold the title since 1988.


Rebecca Soni Sets World Record at London

Rebecca Soni a US Star, Who won her second straight Olympic title in the 200 metre  Breast Stroke on 2 August 2012.She Touched in 2 minutes 19:59 seconds,breaking the mark of 2 minutes 20 seconds she set in the semi finals.


Xiaojun Rewrites Records on Way to Gold

China’s Lu Xiaojun  broke two weight lifting world records on his way to winning gold on 1 August 2012. He sets a world record by 1 kg with over all weight of 379 kg across the two styles of Olympic lift.The total included a World record snatch of 175kg.
