Baldev Sharma Appointed as new Chairman of NBT

Former Panchajanya editor Baldev Sharma was appointed as the new chairman of National Book Trust (NBT). He replaced A. Sethumadhavan. Sethumadhavan resigned six months earlier. He was appointed in September 2012.


Mukesh Ambani Tops Forbes Indian Billionaires List

Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani once again topped the list of 90 Indian billionaires, 28 of them newcomers, on Forbes’ annual ranking, with Bill Gates emerging as the world’s richest person for the 16th time in the last 21 years. With a current net worth of $79.2 billion, up from $76 billion in 2014, Gates for the second consecutive year beat out telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helu (No. 2), whose net worth increased to $77.1 billion from $72 billion last year. Warren Buffett (No. 3) moved up one slot, with a net worth of $72.7 billion, ahead of Spanish clothing retailer Amancio Ortega (No. 4), best known for the Zara fashion chain, who increased his net worth $500 million for a total of $64.5 billion.


Jagmohan Dalmiya Elected as BCCI president

Jagmohan Dalmiya was unanimously elected as President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He was elected as President at the BCCI Annual General Meeting held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.


Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba Won African Leadership Prize

The outgoing Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba has won the world’s most valuable individual award, the Mo Ibrahim prize for African leadership. The $5m (£3.2m) award is given each year to an elected leader who governed well, raised living standards and then left office.Pohamba, a former rebel who fought for his country’s independence, has served two terms as Namibian president.He was first elected in 2004, and again in 2009. He is due to be succeeded by President-elect, Hage Geingob.
