Chinese President Conferred with Nishan-e-Pakistan

Pakistan Government on 21 April conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan, top civilian award on Chinese President Xi Jinping. The award was given for Xi’s contribution in promoting China’s relationship with Pakistan. The Nishan-e-Pakistan is Pakistan’s highest civil award given by the government for the highest degree of service to the country. The award was established in March 1957.


Former Odisha Chief Minister J.B Patnaik Died

Former Governor of Assam and three-time Chief Minister of Odisha Janaki Ballav Patnaik , passed away in Tirupati on 21 April. He was 89. Patnaik was born in Puri district on January 3, 1927. He was Chief Minister of Odisha from 1980 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1999. He was also the Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly from 2004 to 2009. He was appointed Assam Governor in 2009 and occupied this post till 10 December 2014.


CSA launched Africa T20 Cup

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on 21 April launched the 16-team Africa T20 Cup which will be the African curtain-raiser to the 2015-16 season.The tournament was planned to promote the game and nurture young talent in the continent. The tournament featuring Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, hosts South Africa and 12 CSA affiliates will run from 4 September to 4 October 2015.


Indian Railways Launches ‘E-Samiksha’ To Monitor Rail Projects Online

Indian Railways on 21 April 2015 launched online monitoring mechanism E-Samiksha to monitor rail projects. It aims at monitoring implementation of various ongoing projects of Indian Railways on real-time basis including Rail Budget proposals. E-Samiksha is designed by National Informatics Centre (NIC). It has been developed to make it a highly interactive web-based, user-friendly and customised system.
