Ukraine Nationalized Nations largest private Bank “Privat Bank”

1. Privat Bank,  Ukraine’s largest private bank, is being nationalized to protect country’s financial system and preserve an essential bailout loan from the International Monetary Fund.
2. It was running out of money because of the recession in Ukraine and questionable loans.
3. The central bank said 97% of its corporate loans had been made to companies to its share holders.


India signs open skies Agreement with six countries at ICAN – 2016

1. International  Civil Aviation Negotiations (ICAN) – 2016 were held   recently in Nasaace.
2. Open skies agreement allow the unlimited number of flight to six metro airports namely Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai was signed with six countries.
3. Namely Jamaica, Guyana, Czech Republic, Finland, Spain and Srilanka.

Scientists Witness the birth of an ice cloud for the first time

1. The team witnessed a process known as ice nucleation in unprecedented detail, taking time lapse movies of the first few seconds.
2. When a particle attracts water vapour,  forming ice crystals that become the core of icy cirrus clouds.
3. The high, wispy clouds that act much like a blanket for our planet.


Long range nuclear – capable subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay testfired

1. The defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is all set to go for a fresh trial of India’s home made cruise missile Nirbhay from a defence base of Odisha coast on Wednesday 21st December.
2. The indigenously developed surface to surface sub-sonic missile.
3. Which is compared with America’s Tomahawk missile is likely to be test fired at chandipur – on – sea.


India surpasses Britain to become world’s sixth largest economy: Forbes magazine

1. India has now surpassed its former colonial master, the united kingdom, making it self the sixth largest economy in the world.
2. For the first time in more than 100 years, India has achieved this feat.
3. The US, China, Japan, Germany and France make up the top five economies of the world.
4. This advancement is primarily because of the rapid economic growth of India and Brexit fiasco.


Union Cabinet approves creation of Indian Enterprise Development services

1. Union cabinet give its approval to the cadre review and formation of a new service in the name of Indian Enterprise Development Services (IEDS)
2. The IEDS will be created in the office of Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)
3. Its creation will help to strengthen the organization and to achieve  the vision of startup India, stand-up-India, Make is India.
4. It will also enhance the capacity and efficiency of the organization and help in achieving growth in MSME sector through a focused and dedicated cadre of technical officers.


Molten Jet Streams discovered deep inside Earth’s core:

1. Scientists for the first time have discovered the so called molten jet streams with in the Earth’s molten iron core using latest data obtained from three European satellites  called swarm.
2. The three satellites were launched in 2013 with the goal of studying Earth’s magnetic field. The latest satellite data that helps create an sharpest  ‘x-ray’ view of the planet.


World’s first chikungunya  Vaccine Developed:

1. US researchers have developed a vaccine for chikungunya fever made from an insect – specific virces that does not have any effect on people, making the vaccine safe and effective
2. The study indicated that the vaccine quickly produces a strong immune defense and completely protects mice and non human primates  from disease when exposed to chikungunya virus.


India ranks 4th in 2016 Global wind power Installed capacity Index:

1. India ranks 4th in 2016 Global Wind power installed capacity index with cumulative installed wind power generations capacity of  25,088 MW
2. The  index was released as part Global wind Report : Annual market, flagship publication of the Global wind Energy Council – (GWEC)
3. The Index was topped by China, followed by US and Germany with cumulative installed wind power generation capacity of 145362 MW, 74471 MW and 44947 MW respectively.


December 22 : National Mathematics Day:

1. The National Mathematics Day is observed every year on 22nd December to celebrate birth anniversary of great Indian autodidact Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
2. This year it is 129th birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
3. The National Mathematics Day instituted in 2011 by the Union Government to celebrate Ramanujan’s 125th birth anniversary.
4. Besides the year 2012 was also declared National Mathematics year.


Japan approves biggest defence budget:

1. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s cabinet approved 5.13 trillion yen ($43.6 billion) in defence spending for the fiscal year starting April 2017.
2. It is Japan’s highest annual budget announced so far. It is up by 1.4% from the initial budget for the current fiscal year.
3. Now it will be sent to parliament (Diet) for debate and approval
4. Under the new budget Japan aims to beef up its ballistie missile defences, allocating funds for a new interceptor missile under joint development with the united states.
