Govt of Iran Unveils Bill of Right :

1. Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani Unveiled a landmark Bill of Rights guaranteeing freedom of speech, protest, fair trails and privacy.
2. Although many of the rights are already enshrined in Iran’s constitution written after the 1979 Islamic.
3. Rouhani offered the clea4r list of principles that could be used to check the performance of state institutions


Japan sucessfully launches solid fuel rocket:

1  Japan’s space agency has announced successfully launched a 26- metre lng rocket named Epsilon-2, which put a satellite that helps study radiation belts in orbit.
2. Epsilon – 2 is part of a new generation of solid propellant rockets, which can reduce launch costs up to one – third.
3. reduction in cost can allow countries to put more communications and weather satellites in space.


China inks deal with BRICS bank approving 525 mn Yuan loan:

1 China has inked an agreement with the New development bank (NDB) set up by the BRICS approving a 525 m illion Yuan loan for a solar power project in the country.
2. The new lender announced a 525 million yuan loan for the shanghai Lingang Distributed solar power project.


Union cabinet approves ordinance to pay salaries by cheques:

1. The Union Cabinet has approved a draft ordinance to empower states and allow industries to pay workers wages digitally, through a direct bank transfer to accounts or by cheque in a bid to encourage cash less transactions.
2. The draft ordinance proposes changes to the section 6 of the payment ofr wages Act, 1936 to encourage cash less transactions.
3. It will need the president’s assent to become law as pwe article 123 of the constitution.


2016 Sahitya  Akademi Award Winners:

1. The Sahitya Akademi has Announced the names of 24 poets and authors who will be conferred the prestigious 2016 Sahitya Akademi Award.
2. This award has recognised premier works in 24 Indian languages that includes 8 books of criticism and 1 book each of essays and play.
Winners are :
Play :  Swarajbir (Punjabi)
Essay : Nrisinghaprasad Bhaduri (Bengali)
Criticism : Aziz Hajini (Kashmiri) and Nizam Siddiqui (Urdu)
Short stories : Chahatrapal (Dogri), Shyam Darihare (Maithili), Moirangthem Rajen (Manipuri), Asaram Lomate (Marathi), Paramita Satpathy (Odia), Bhulaki Sharma (Rajasthani) Vannadhasan (Tamil)
Poetry : Jan Pujari (Assamese), Anju (Bodo), Kamal Vora (Gujarati), Prabha Varma (Malayalam), Sitanath Acharya (Sanskrit), Gobinda Chandra Majhi (Santhali), Nand Javeri (Sindhi) and Papineni Sivasankar  (Telugu)


2016 SASTRA Ramanujan awards announced:

1. The 20106 SASTRA Ramannuan Prize was announced recently.
2. This year the Prize was awarded jointly to Kaisa Matomaki (University of Turku, Finland) and Maksym Radziwill (MC Gill University, Canada)
3. For their deep and far reaching contributions to several important problems in diverse areas of Number Theory and especially for thier spectacular collaboration which is revolutionising the subject.
4. The SASTRA Ramanujan prize was established in 2005 and is awarded annually for outstanding contributions by young Mathematicians, who has below 32 years.


Bank of Baroda supports FIFA Under – 17 Word Cup:

1. Bank of Baroda announced with over 10 months to go for the launch of FIFA under – 17 world cup in India 2017.
2. The Bank of Baroda has become the first Indian company to sign up as a national supported.
3. The first-even FIFA event in India, scheduled to kick start in October – 2017, participation from 24 countries and matches will be played at six different venues.
4. While FIFA already has international sponsors for all events, including Coca –  Cola, Adidas, Wonda, BOB is the first Indian supporter.


A dead Zone discovered in Bay of Bengal:

1. Scientists including those from India have found a huge dead zone of an estimated 60,000 square Kilometres in Bay of Bengal.
2. This area is said to supports microbial processes that remove vast amount of nitrogen from the ocean.
3. The study published in Nature Geosciences.
4. Deal Zone is an  area in water body that contain little or no oxygen in bottom and near-bottom water.
5. They are well-known off western coasts of North and South America, off coast of Namibia and off west coast of Indai in Arabian Sea.


PM lays foundation stone of first Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur

1. PM Narendra Modi laid foundation stone of the country’s first Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh to make India the Skill capital of world
2.  He also inaugurated the Kaushal Pradarshini for the youth of Uttar Pradesh to portray major skill development initiatives of the Union sill Development and Enterpreneurship Ministry.


Madras High Court bans unauthorised Sharia courts :

1. The Madras High Court has banned all unanthorised Sharia Courts in mosques across Tamil Nadu saying centres of worship were only to be used for religiious puposes.
2. The court’s pronouncement came in response to a PIL filed by a non-resident Indian mentioning that such sharia courts are operating as a court of law fom mosques and dealt largely with matrimonial disputes, even going to the extent of passing divorce orders.


Ravichandran Ashwin – ICC Crickter of 2016:

1. Indian off – spinner R. Aswin has claimed the top ICC awards – ICC cricketer of the year and Test cricketer of the year.
2. Ashwin is the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid  to win the Sir Garfield sobers Trophy for Cricketer of the year.
3. In 2016 alone, he picked up 72 wickets in 12 Tests and became the second-fastest bowler to 200 wickets during the Kanpur match against New Zealand.
