PM Narendra Modi laid foundation stone for Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravati

Prime minister Narendra Modi on 22 October 2015 laid the foundation stone of Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravati at Uddandarayunipalem village in Guntur district.The city boasts a 17- km-long waterfront and is strategically placed between Guntur and Vijayawada. Though the city has already attracted investments worth Rs 20,000 crore, it has run into trouble with the National Green Tribunal for flouting environmental norms. The village is located about 40 kms from Vijayawada which is the commercial hub of the state.


India, China end military drills with anti-terror exercises

The fifth round of India-China joint military exercises wound up on 22 October 2015 in the Chinese city of Kunming with the two countries holding a unique mock exercise depicting counter-terror operations at the Sino-Indian border.A joint field exercise depicting counter-terrorist operations on India-China border areas was held from 21 to 22 October to validate the exercise objectives.

Typhoon Koppu hit the Philippines on 22 October 2015 and kills 43 people. 60,000 people have been displaced in Philippines by typhoon Koppu.
