Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar Appointed As ISI chief

Lieutenant (Lt) General Rizwan Akhtar was appointed as the new chief of Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He will replace Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam who is scheduled to retire in October 2014. The ISI was established in 1948 and became the primary institution running the intelligence operations of country’s army, air force and navy.


Voreqe Bainimarama Sworn In As Fiji’s new PM

Coup leader Voreqe Bainimarama was sworn in as new Prime Minister of Fiji on 22 September. He was sworn in by President Epeli Nailatikau at a brief ceremony in Government House of Suva. He was sworn-in after the official results showed that he had won 60 percent of the seats. The official results of the 2014 elections in Fiji were declared after five days of general elections held on 17 September 2014.
