Government cleared multi billion dollar deal with America’s Boeing for military helicopters

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on 22 September cleared a multi billion dollar deal for 22 Apache attack helicopters and 15 Chinook heavy lift choppers with American aviation giant Boeing. The deal valued to be over USD 2.5 Billion. The 22 Apache AH, 64 D Longbow helicopters are one of the most advanced multi role combat helicopters, featuring all weather and night fighting features, ability to track up to 128 targets in less than a minute and engage with 16. The deal for Apache is a hybrid one. The deals have direct commercial contracts with Boeing as well as a direct government to government component between the two governments.


Golden Jubilee of 1965 War held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan 

The Golden jubilee celebrations of victory over Pakistan in the 1965 War were held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi on 22 September, 2015. Several war veterans were felicitated with the medals by the President Pranab Mukherji. A carnival ‘Indradhanush’, was organised at the India Gate and ‘Shauryanjali’, an exhibition being held by the army on Rajpath. A 96 year old Air Marshal Arjan Singh, the only IAF officer to be promoted to the rank of a Five-star General felicitated by the President. Mr Singh was chief of the Indian Air Force during the 1965 War.


Indra Nooyi and Shobhana Bhartia honoured with USIBC Global Leadership Awards 

Indra Nooyi , Chairman and CEO of PepSi Co., and Shobhana Bhartia, Chairperson and editorial director of HT media received the USIBC (U.S-India Business Council) Global Leadership Awards on 22 September in Washington. Both were honoured for their contributions and committment to driving a more inclusive global economy and for their roles as women leaders.
