Assembly elections 2013: Meghalaya registers 88% voting, Nagaland 83%

Meghalaya recorded 88 per cent polling and Nagaland 83.27 per cent in the assembly elections held on 23 February 2013.The counting would be held on February 28.


Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Kurien Joseph, as Supreme Court judges

The Supreme Court collegium has cleared the elevation of the Chief Justices of the Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh High Courts, Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Kurien Joseph, as Supreme Court judges.Justice Ghose from West Bengal, became judge of the Calcutta High Court in July 1997 and he was appointed Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in December 2012. He will have tenure of about five years in the Supreme Court.Justice Joseph, from Kerala, became judge in July 2000. He was appointed Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court in February 2010. His tenure in the Supreme Court will be for five years and nine months.


Sania combines with Bethanie to win Dubai title

India’s Sania Mirza on 23 February 2013 clinched her second doubles title of the season after she combined with partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands to defeat Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik in the title clash of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.


Kvitova wins Dubai title

Former Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova defeat the Italian,Sara Errani 6-2 1-6 6-1 and won the Dubai Open Dubai WTA title on 23 February 2013.This is the 10th title of his career.
