Kumar Sangakkara appointed Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the UK

Sri Lankan Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara appointed Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the UK on 24 August 2015.He got this offer on the he retired from the International Cricket.He played his last match against India as part of three match test series held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.


Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara retired from International Test Cricket

Former captain of Sri Lanaka cricket team, Kumar Sangakkara retired from International Test Cricket on 24 August 2015.He played his last match against India as part of three match test series held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Sangakkara had already taken retirement from One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty-20 cricket. In his Test match career he scored 38 centuries and 52 half-centuries from 134 matches. He is the first batsman to score hundreds in three consecutive World Cup matches.He created this record in 2015 ICC World Cup.


Union Government released a Postal stamp on emperor Ashoka

On 24th August 2015, Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad released a commemorative postal stamp of 5 rupees on emperor Ashoka during a Bharatiya Janata Party function to celebrate the birth anniversary of Ashoka.
