Narendra Modi visit to Singapore

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Singapore on 23-24 November 2015. He met with Singapore Prime Minister Le Hisien Loong and held bilateral talks. Both the countries signed 10 agreements on the occassion of Modi visit which included cyber security, shipping and civil aviation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Singapore President Tony Tan Keng and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Istana, the official residence and office of the President. Modi on 24 November attended and addressed the India-Singapore Economic Convension.


MoUs between Singapore and India

India and Singapore elevated their ties to the strategic partnership level and signed bilateral agreements for enhanced defence cooperation and in areas like cyber security, shipping and civil aviation. The 10 pacts signed by the two nations included a joint declaration between the two nations on enhanced defence cooperation, which provides for defence minister’s dialogue, joint exercises between armed forces, cooperation between defence industries to identify areas of co-production and co-development.


Dhanush Missile test fired successfully

The nuclear-capable Dhanush ballistic missile was successfully test fired from warship Subhadra, off the Puri coast of Odisha in the Bay of Bengal. The test was conducted by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The missile has a length of 8.53 meters and is 0.9 meter wide. It is single-stage, liquid propelled which can hit both land and sea-based targets upto strike range of 350 kms. It is a surface-to-surface missile and can carry both conventional as well as a nuclear payload of 500 kg.
