Virat Kohli No-1 in Lord’s list of 20 players:

After the release of ICC and Cricket Australia’s list of the best players of 2016, Lords cricket ground have followed the trend and selected top 20 players of this calendar year.
Indian test skipper Virat Kohli bagged was honored with No.1 spot after experiencing a sensational run in 2016 across all the formats of the game. Virat brought an end to his perfect year with “Player of the Series” award in the recently concluded Test series with England.


DRDO tests smart Anti-Airfield Weapon:

The Defence and Research Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully flight tested the smart Anti-Air field weapon (SAAW) from a Jaguar fighter jet capable of hitting ground targets with in a range of 100 km.

Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Atal Bihari Vajapayee’s 90th birthday was observed as National Good Governance Day on 25th December 2016. Google India, Consumer Affairs Ministry Join, hards:

Google India and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has announced a nation wide Digital safe consumer campaign. The campaign is part of a larger effort to better campaign will provide training and information on online safety tools. Which include workshops across the country and will feature write ups,l posters and more.


Government launches Smart Consumer mobile App & OCMC:

The Union Govt, has launched Smart Consumer mobile App and an online consumer Mediation Centre (OCMC) to provide speedy redressal of consumer grievances. A part from this, a help line 14404 was also launched for consumer related grievances on the occasion of National Consumer Day 24th December.


Sri Lanka Claims world’s tallest artificial Christmass tree:

Sri Lanka Unveiled a towering Christmas tree, claiming to have surpassed the world record despite constructions delays and a shorter than planned finished product. The 238-foot artificial tree in capital colombo is 59 feet taller than the current record holder, organizer said. The tree’s steel and wire frame is covered with a plastic net decorated with more than 1 million natural pine cones painted red, gold, green and silver 600,000 LED bulbs and topped by a 20 – foot-tall shining star.


Maharashtra to launch India’s first 24×7 help line for forests:

The Maharashtra forest Dept is going to launch a state wide 24×7 help line for getting information about issues related to forests and wildlife from January 6, 20107. With this Maharashtra will become first state country t have first 24×7 help line for forests. This call centre facility will enable citizens to complain about poaching illegal will life trade, forest fires and encroachments on reserved land, among others.


Karnataka Govt, removes night shift curbs for women:

In a major initiative to prove equal opportunities for women in all sectors, the Karnataka Govt has removed restrictions on allowing women to work in night shifts in all sectors, currently, women are allowed to be employed in shifts only in IT and ITES sectors.


Inter Ministerial task force on Indus water treaty meets:

The inter-ministerial task force, set up by Modi Govt to look into strategic aspects of Indus water Treaty (IWT) with Pakistan, discussed ways to fast track hydro power projects of 8500 MW – capacity in Jammu & Kashmir during its first meeting held in New Delhi on 23 December Chaired by PM. Narandra Modi’s principal secretary Nripendra Mishra, the meet was attended by NSA Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary S. Jai Shankar, Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa and water Resources Secretary Shashi Shekar as well chief secrataries fo Punjab and J & K.
