Qatar’s Emir Transfers Power To Son

On 25 June The emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has handed over power to his son Sheikh Tamin.Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani ruled the Qatar from 1995 by overthrowing his father in a palace coup.Qatar tops the list of the world’s richest countries by Forbes and also the highest human development in the Arab World.


PM Lays Foundation Stone For GVK’s Ratle Hydel Plant In J&K
On 25 June Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid foundation stone for GVK Power’s 850 mw Ratle hydro-electric power plant on the River Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir.The 850 MW Ratle project, which is the nation’s first hydroelectric project that was bid out through tariff based international competitive bidding, will cost Rs 5,500 crore.The project was awarded to GVK Power which offered the lowest tariff for generating power.


Krishna Chaudhary is new NDRF chief
On 25 June Senior IPS officer Krishna Chaudhary has been appointed as Director General, National Disaster Response Force and Civil Defence.His appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of the post and until his superannuation on June 30, 2017.
