Uber Eats appointed Alia Bhatt as its first brand ambassador of India
Food delivery platform Uber Eats announced the appointment of actress Alia Bhatt as its brand ambassador. India will be the first country where the global company appointed an ambassador. In India, Ubereats was first launched in Mumbai in May 2017 and is currently present in 37 cities across the country.


India GDP to slow down marginally, but remain strong at 7.5% in 2019 & 2020: OECD
The Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) released its Economic Outlook 2018 report and said growth in India will hold up relatively well, and predicted GDP at market prices to decline marginally to 7.3% in 2019 and 7.4% in 2020 from 7.5% in 2018.


Tamil Nadu seeks Rs.14,910 crore aid from Centre
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami sought the aid of Rs.14,910 crore towards relief, permanent restoration and mitigation efforts in central districts of Tamil Nadu ravaged by Cyclone Gaja. The team led by Home ministry official Daniel E. Richard is to arrive in Chennai.


Vimal Chandra won the Young Scientist award
IIT Roorkee Professor Vimal Chandra Srivastava has won the ‘NASI-Scopus Young Scientist Award 2018’ in ‘Environmentally Sound Sustainable Development’ category. He has been given the award for his work on Industrial Wastewater Treatment, Clean Liquid Fuels, and Multi-component Adsorption.


Mary Kom scripts history, becomes six-time boxing World Champion
Legendary boxer Mary Kom scripted history, becoming India’s only six-time world boxing champion after defeating Hanna Okhota of Ukraine. Mary has also registered her name in history books as she has now equalled male pugilist Felix Savon of Cuba, becoming an all-time best boxer with six gold and one silver medal in World Championships.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley released a curated coffee table book titled ‘The Illustrated History of Indian Hockey: A Saga of Triumph, Pain and Dreams’. It was released alongside International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra and Hockey India President Mohd. Mushtaq Ahmad.


Former Indian Hockey Player Sandeep Michael passes away
Former Indian hockey player, Sandeep Michael, who captained the Indian junior team to a gold at the Asia Cup 2003, died at the age of 33 after battling an unspecified neurological problem.


Firhad Hakim to be the new Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation
West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim is set to be the new Mayor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He was elected unanimously by the councillors of the Trinamool Congress. The councillors decided on his name in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Mr.Hakim will be the first Muslim Mayor of KMC, founded in 1876, since Independence.
