RBI Banned Zero Percent Interest Rate Schemes for Purchase of Consumer Goods

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 25 September banned zero per cent interest rate schemes for purchase of consumer goods though credit cards ahead of the festival season.The decision has taken in order to protect consumer interest.In this regard Reserve Bank of India issued a notification to all the Schedule Commercial Banks and local area banks.


Sikkim Sets Up Cell To Monitor Social Media Content

The Sikkim government in the month of September 2013 has set up an exclusive cell in the police department to engage with the public on social media on a regular basis.The move was taken to counter any hate propaganda and rumour. The state government designated nodal officers for monitoring the content of social networking sites to take immediate action against any false propaganda.


Indian Athletics Coach A.K.Kutty Died

Eminent athletic coach AK Kutty, who trained some of country’s leading track-and-field stars like M D Valsamma, died on 25 September in Palakkad, Kerala.He was the coach of Asiad silver medal winning long jumper Mercy Kuttan. He had also served as trainer for the Railways.A.K. Kutty was conferred the Dronacharya Award in 2010.
