Actor Midhun Chakraborthy Resigns from Rajya Sabha:

Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty of the Trinamool congress has resigned as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP), citing failing health, according to the party’s chief of the upper houe, Derek O’ Brien. Mithun Chakraborty was nominated to te Rajya Sabha in January 2014 by All India Trinamool Congress, following which he became a M.P to Rajya Sabha, Mithun’s term was due to end in 2020.


Karnataka Govt launched 25 bio-diesel buses:

In an effort to reduce pollution caused by diesel buses, Karnataka state Road Transport corporation (KSRTC) has launched 25 bio-diesel buses in the state. These eco-friendly buses will ply on four routes, including Tirupati and Chennai. Costing around Rs. 90 lakh each, bio-diesel buses eject 60-70% less emissions than diesel buses and would reportedly save the corporation Rs. 80 lakh each year.

Environmental Tax law passed by China:

China has passed a law that living tones on pollution, but ignores carbon dioxide, one of the major contributors to global warming, according to the web site of the country’s highest legislative body. Polluters will be charged for contributing to air, water and noise pollution, according to a copy of the legislation on the NPC’s official website. The Environmental Tax Law will come into effect on January 1, 2018. The crisis also spurred a call by chinese president Xi Jumping for the country to develop clean energy sources in order to reduce smong, xinhua reported.


Barbara Jatta appointed Director of Vaticans Museums:

The vatican Museums, one of the world’s pre-eminent art collecting, announced 27th December, that Barbara Jalla, an Italian art historian and long time. Vatican official, will become its new director, making her the first woman to hold one of the most prestigious Jobs in the world.

PM Modi lays foundation stone of Char Dham Highway:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 27th December laid the foundation stone for the 900 km Char Dham Highway project in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The Char Dham Highway will cost the exchequer Rs.12,000 crore and the all-weather road will improve connectivity between kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. PM Modi also said that the high way project will put Uttarakhand’s economy which is dependent on tourism – particularly religious tourism, back on track after the 2013 flash floods. Over 5,000 people were killed during the flash floods that ravaged the kedarnath valley in June 2013.


PM Modi inaugurated new Campus of NISM:

PM Narendra Modi today inaugurated new campus of National Institute of securities Markets (NISM) at patalganga in Navi-Numbai. NISM is an educational initiative of capital markets regular SEBI. NISM presently operates from its campus located in Vashi Navi Mumai, but the existing infrastructure in in adequate to meet its growing requirements. And also lay foundation stone for the grand memorial of Maratha Warrior King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It would be the tallest statue of legendary Maratha Worrior Shivaji and is supposed to be bigger that the statue of Liberty in America.


“JUTE – SMART” on line portal launched:

On the occasion of Good Governance Day i.e 25th December, Ministry of Textiles launched “Jute-Smart” an online portal in New Delhi to facilitate purchase of Jute bags from the Jute industry by the state procurement agencies. Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani launched three initiatives, “Jute – Smart” Dash board for Integrated Skill Development Scheme”, and ‘Bunkar Mitra’ to promote good governance.


Atal – Amrit Abhiyan launched in Assam:

The new BJP led government in Assam is all set to launch an initiative called Atal Amrit Abhiyan which will give coverage against 5 critical illness. While speaking to the reporters the Health Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said under this health insurance scheme a beneficiary can avail free of cost treatment up to Rs.2 lakh every year in any hospital across the country is cases of a serious illness like cancer, any forms of heart surgery, neuro surgery, burns and kidney diseases. People can avail these benefits at Just Rs.100 per year by registering them selves for a smart card that will be issued by the govt.
