India’s First Post Office Savings Bank ATM inaugurated In Chennai
Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on 27 February inaugurated the country’s first post office savings bank ATM in Chennai. The ATM was part of an Information Technology (IT) modernisation project of the Department of Posts.
Government Sets Up Expert Committee To Examine Demand For Bodoland
The government has set up an expert committee on 27 February to study and examine the demand of a separate Bodoland state to be carved out of Assam.The one-man committee will be headed by former Union Home Secretary G K Pillai and will submit its report in nine months after consulting all sections of the society on the viability of a separate state.This is for the first time the central government has set up such a committee to examine the demand of Bodoland.
