India test fires first ever ballistic missile from underwater

India on 27 January 2013 successfully test fired an underwater ballistic missile, K-15(code-named Bo5), with a strike range of around700 kilometres, from an underwater platform in Bay of Bengal. The medium range K-5 ballistic missile was test-fired from an underwater pontoon and all parameters of the test firing were met. India is only the fifth nation to have SLBM. The other four nations are Russia, China, France and USA. India is also developing two more underwater missiles including K-15 and Brahmos with strike ranges of 750 kilometres and 290 kilometres respectively.


Djokovic Claims Australian Open Hat-Trick

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic became the first man to win three consecutive Australian Open titles in the Open Era, defeating Andy Murray 6-7(2), 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-2 in three hours and 40 minutes on 27 January 2013.


 Magnus Carlsen Won Tata Steel Chess Championship

Magnus Carlsen won Tata Steel 2013 Chess tournament title in the final at Netherlands on 27 January .In the final round tournament, he scored 10 points , winning clear first ahead of second-place finisher Aronian (Armenia).World champion Viswanathan Anand at third position.
