India Becomes Most Attractive Investment Destination

India has become most attractive investment destination in world after it was ranked first among 110 countries in a ranking of destinations for attractiveness to foreign investors. The ranking was based on baseline profitability index (BPI) 2015. In this edition of China was placed at the 65th position and US was placed at the 50th. India has emerged as top investment destination in BPI 2015 compared to previous 6th position held in the 2014 index.


Ujjwal Batria Appointed as Lafarge India CEO

Ujjwal Batria has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of French cement maker Lafarge’s India operations. Batria succeeded Martin Kriegner, who will now be Area Manager-Central Europe of Lafarge Holcim, an entity to be formed by the proposed merger of the world’s top two cement firms. Prior to his appointment as the CEO of Lafarge India, Batria was the Managing Director of Lafarge India Private Limited and was managing the cement business of the company.

A team of scientists led by Indian-American Debashis Chanda from University of Central Florida (UCF) developed a nature-inspired technique for creating the world’s first full-colour, flexible thin-film reflective display. This technology can help you switch your dress colour to a different colour in the blink of an eye, if someone at a wedding reception is wearing the same dress as yours.


Vatican Signed Historic First Accord with ‘Palestine’

The Vatican signed an historic first accord with “Palestine,” two years after officially recognizing the Palestinian Authority (PA) as a state. The accord, a treaty covering the life and activity of the Church in Judea and Samaria, was the first since the Vatican made the controversial step of recognition in February 2013. It also recognizes the PA as having authority in eastern Jerusalem, the undivided capital of the Jewish state.


First Successful Artificial Heart Transplant In UAE

A medical team in Sharjah’s Al Qasimi Hospital successfully completed a pioneering surgery implanting a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) on a 21-year-old Emirati patient.The surgery is the first-of-its-kind in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
