Keshari Nath Tripathi Sworn In As New Bihar Governor

Veteran BJP leader and West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi was on 27 November sworn in as the Governor of Bihar. Tripathi was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of Patna High Court Rekha M Doshit at Raj Bhawan. The West Bengal Governor, who will hold additional charge of Bihar, replaced Dr D Y Patil whose tenure ended on 26 November 2014.


Australia Cricketer Phillip Hughes Died

Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes has died on 27 November at the age of 25 after being struck on the head by a bouncer at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 25 November 2014. He was a left-handed opening batsman who played for two seasons with New South Wales before making his Test debut in 2009 at the age of 20.  On 11 January 2013, Hughes became the first Australian batsman in the history of ODI cricket to score a century on debut, a feat which he achieved against Sri Lanka in Melbourne. Hughes was also the youngest cricketer ever to score back-to-back centuries in a test match, a feat which he achieved in Durban, 2009 against South Africa.


Pakistani Author Bilal Tanweer Won 2014 Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize

Lahore-based author Bilal Tanweer has won the 2014 Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize for his novel The Scatter Here Is Too Great. In its seventh year, the prize money has been increased to Rs 2 lakh with support from Priti Paul and the Apeejay Trust.


NASA Creates History By Successfully 3D Printing First Object In Space

The first 3D-printed object was developed in space by world’s first zero-gravity 3D printer created by NASA and Made In Space Inc on the International Space Station (ISS). The 3D maker ‘zero-g printer‘ was delivered to the ISS in september 2014 via a Space X Dragon capsule. NASA astronaut Barry Butch Wilmore, Expedition 42 commander installed the printer at the ISS and conducted the first calibration test print.
