Sandeep Saxena Appointed As Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer

Agriculture secretary Sandeep Saxena has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu on 27 October. Saxena succeeds Praveen Kumar, who has had a four-year stint in the elections department.


Government Launched Website For Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana

The government has launched a dedicated website for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), which will be available both in English and Hindi. The website, www.pmjdy.gov.in was launched on 27 October by Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), GS Sandhu in New Delhi. The newly launched website contains information on administrative structure with contact details of Central/State/District level mission directors and nodal officers. It also provides information on latest events and circulars issued under the scheme.


World Day For Audiovisual Heritage was Observed Across The World

World Day for Audiovisual Heritage was observed across the world on 27 October with the theme Archives at Risk: Much more to do. The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage aims to raise general awareness of the need for urgent measures to be taken to safeguard audiovisual document. It also focuses on acknowledging the importance of audiovisual documents as an integral part of national identity.


Sania Mirza – Cara Black Won Doubles Title at WTA Finals

Indian ace Sania Mirza and her Zimbabwean partner Cara Black won the BNP Paribas Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals Singapore Doubles title. They defeated the Peng Shuai of China and Hsieh Su-Wei of Taipei. This win was their fifth and biggest WTA doubles title together. Earlier they had won one Premier Mandatory title in Beijing in 2013, two other Premiers title in Tokyo in 2013 and 2014 and an International title in Oeiras in 2014.
