Indian Army partners with IIT Gandhinagar:

Indian Army has partnered with IT Gandhinagar to set up a research and development (R&D) cell at the IIT campus. The research cell will work with the faculty and research students to identify problems and possible solutions for the Indians Army. The Agreement will also enable the IIT and Indian Army to collaborate in areas including critical technology requirements of Indian Army, sharing of professional and technical Knowledge, according to a release.


Viral Acharya appointed as RBI deputy governor:

The Govt has appointed Viral Acharya as deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for three years. The CV Star professor of Economics in the Department of Finance at New York University stern school of business. He is the program Director for Financial Economics and a Research Affiliate at the center for economic policy Research, a director of WESTERN FINANCE association, the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE)


Former Sri Lankan P.M Ratnasiri Passes away:

Former Sri Lankan P.M. “Ratnasiri Wickremanyake” passed on 27th December. He was 83. Wickremanayake was the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2001 and 2005 to 2010. He entered politics in 1960, winning a set in the legislature as a member of the Mahajana Eksath peramuna (People’s United Front). The 83 year – old leader, ailling for some time now, breathed his last on 27th December morning his family said.


Shah Rukh Khan conferred with Honorary  Doctorate:

Bolly wood superstar Shah Rukh Khan received the  honorary doctorate at the sixth convocation of Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad. The ‘Reees’ star was conferred with honourby president pranab Mukherjee for his extraordinary contribution in the promotion of Urdu language and culture. In the past actor Aamir Khan has also been confered with a similar honour in 2013.


PayTM launches 100 members “Merchant Helpdesk”:

PayTM 26th December announced a 100-member merchant help desk to educate merchants across India. Digital payments company and on line market place plat from payTM has constituted a 100-member merchant help desk to address concerns on delay in payments. The company has earmarked Rs. 50 crore towards this initiative to educate merchants on digital payments.


Tata Motors signs up Akshay Kumar  as brand ambassador:

Tata Motors has announced the appointment of Bollywood film star Akshay Kumar, as the brand ambassador for its commercial vehicle Business Unit. Indian Cinema’s “Original Khiladi” will make his blockbuster entry in this new role at the launch of Tata Motors latest offering in commercial Vehicles, stated in January  2017.


24th National Children’s Science Congrees inaugurated in Pune:

The 24th National Children’s Science congress (NCSC) was inaugurated at Vidya Pratisthan’s Institute of Information technology, Baramati in Pune, Maharashtra. The five day science congress will see participation of more than 700 child scientists under one umbrella to show case their talents. The top 25 projects will be shortlisted and respective students will be provided with training support.


Film, T.V and Liberal Arts Institute in Uttar Pradesh:

UP CM Akhilesh Yadav laid a foundation stone of the film, television and liberal arts institute at the state capital Lucknow. The institute will come up near Lucknow in an area of 14 acres of land. It will be autonomous institute for studies of  cinematic and liberal arts. It will import courses on film television and other liberal arts.


Union Govt gives nod for apex corridor development body:

The Union Govt has approved the re-designatin of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial corridor project Implementation Trust Fund (DMICPTF) as National Industrial corridor development & Implementation Trust (NICDIT) NICDIT will be the apex body to oversee integrated development of all industrial corridors across the country. It will implement all the five proposed industrial corridors, together covering 15 states.


Kerala to seek Union Govt’s approval for using deer antlers in Ayurveda medicines:

The Kerala Govt has approached the Union Govt for allowing use of antlers of spotted deer and Sambar of Ayurdeva medicines. In this regard CM Pinarayi Vijayan has for warded proposal to National Board for wildlife (NBWL) and Ministry of Environment and Forests. SBWL (state board for wild life) is seeking suitable amendments to the wild life (protection) Act, 1972 for using the antlers for medicinal purposes.
