Surya Prakash Named As Prasar Bharati Chairman
Surya Prakash was appointed as the Chairman of Prasar Bharti Board, filling a post which had been lying vacant for the last six months. He succeeded Mrinal Pande whose term ended on April 2014.
India and Vietnam Signed Seven Agreements
India and Vietnam on 28 October signed seven agreements and decided to take their defence and security cooperation to new heights. The two countries agreed to sign the MoUs after the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung in New Delhi.
Japan’s SoftBank To Invest USD 10 billion In India
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Japanese telecommunications and internet firm SoftBank Corporation, Masayoshi Son, has pledged an investment of USD 10 billion in India’s IT and communications sector in the coming years. With this investment, SoftBank looks forward for opportunities in telecom space and the fast-growing e-commerce sector in India. Softbank is one of the major telecom and internet corporations of Japan. It started out in 1981 as a distributor of computer software. At present, the company has a market cap of 92 billion US dollar and it is operational in broadband, fixed line telecom, e-commerce, finance, media and marketing.
World Bank Predicts 5.6% Growth For India
According to the World bank latest report, India is set to for 5.6 percent growth in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. In its latest India Development Update, the lender predicted an acceleration in growth to 6.4 percent in fiscal 2016 and further to 7 percent in fiscal 2017.
