Nepal elects first woman President ‘Bidhya Bhandari’

Nepal for the first time elected woman candidate as it’s President. Bidhya Bhandari of Communist Party of Nepal has been elected as the new President of Nepal. She began her political career in 1979. Bhandari was the minister for Defence in the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led government from May 2009 to February 2011.


Gandhi and Modi among most admired personalities globally

Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are among the most admired personalities globally as per a new survey by the World Economic Forum. The list includes Nelson Mandela at the top position and Pope Francis as second most liked leader. Mahatma Gandhi is ranked fourth and Narendra Modi is the 10th most admired personality globally. Others in the list are Tesla Motor’s CEO Elon Musk (3), Microsoft founder Bill Gates (5), US President Barack Obama (6), Virgin Group founder Richard Branson (7), Apple company founder Steve Jobs (8) and Nobel laurate Mohammad Younis at 9th place.


The 8th National Seed Congress begins in Hyderabad

The 8th National Seed Congress has began on 27th October at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Hyderabad. It is a three day congress from 27th to 29th October. The theme of the congress is ‘Quality seed for farmer’s prosperity’. The seed congress will be attended by about 600 participants from agricultural universities, governments agencies and seed sector.


India-Sri Lanka bilateral Naval Excercise ‘SLINEX15’ begins in Sri Lanka’s Trincomalee coast

The fourth edition of India-Sri Lanka bilateral Naval Excercise ‘SLINEX15’ begins in Sri Lanka’s Trincomalee coast. The excercise enhance the capability of the two nations to work together and contribute towards maritime security in the region. SLINEX 15 will include naval ships, fast attack crafts, gun boats of both India and Sri Lanka.
