Govt launches Swachh Swasth Sarvatra initiative:

The Union Govt launched an initiative, Swachh Swasth Sarvatra, on December 29, 2016. To strengthen health centers in open defections 700 free blocks. The initiative was launched by the Union Health Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Drinking Water and sanitation and Human Resource Development. The Objectives of “Swachh Swasth Sarvatra” initiative is to build on and leverage achievements of two complementary programmes – Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and Kayakalp of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and Ministry of Health and Family welfare, respectively.

India, Bhutan sign MoU for green construction:

India has signed an agreement with Bhutan for assistance in green and sustainable construction of infrastructure in the Himalayan Kingdom. According to a statement an MoU was signed between central Ministry of Urban Development and Department of Engineering Services, under Bhutan’s Ministry of works an Human settlements for the purpose in Thimpu.

Anil Baijal appointed as Lt. Governor of Delhi:

Former home secretary Anil Baijal will takeover as New Delhi Lt. Governor replacing Najeeb Jung. President Pranab Mukherjee on 29th December accepted Delhi’s Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung’s resignation and appointed Anil Baijal as his successor.  Baijal, a 1969 batch IAS officer of te Union Territories cadre, was removed as Union Home Secretary when the UPA Govt assumed power in May, 2004.

Haryana Govt to set up Country’s first caterpillar Train:

Haryana Govt has decided to set up a pilot corridor form innovative concept of caterpillar Train also known as C-Train, that will fly over city’s traffic in Gurgaon city. The concept of C-Train was co-developed by an Indian Railways engineer Aswani Kumar, Upadhyaya  along with Emil Jacob, both Ph.d scholars at MIT, for which they won a global award at the MIT in the United states in 2016 for this innovative idea.

SP vaid appointed as new J&K police Chief:

The J&K government on 28th December appointed SP vaid as the New Director General of Police replacing K. Rajendra Kumar, who is retiring by the end of this months. The cabinet which met under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti decided to appointed SP vaid as the new DGP of the state vaid is a 1986 batch IPS offiicer of J&K cadre who is presently working as special DGP (Lawand Order)

Raasthani Writer Satya Narayan chosen for Bihari Puraskar:

Eminent Rajasthani literateur Staya Narayan has been chosen for the 26th Bihari Puraskar, 2016 for his hindi book titled. “Yeh EK Dunia”. Instituted in 1991 by the Foundation, the award which is named after famous Hindi poet Bihari, recognizer out standing work in Hindi or Rajasthani, published during the last ten years by a Rajastani writer.

Suresh Kalmadi, Abhay Singh Chautala appointed as IOA’s life presidents:

The Indian olympic Association (IOA) has appointed Suresh Kalmadi and Abhay Singh Chautala as its life presidents. Decision in this regard was taken unanimously during IOA’s Annual General Meeting held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is a honorary post and person holding it has no voling rights or involvement in day to-day functioning of the sporting body.

Meghalaya t host 2022 National Games:

Meghalaya will host the  2022 National Games, which will coincide with the state’s 50 years statehood. The state had pledged 5 crore rupees as the bid amount for the games. With, this Meghala will become the third north – eastern state after Manipur and Assam to host the National Games. The IOA accepted Meghalaya’s bid to host the National Games over shadowing four other bidders,  which are Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand.

China launches two remote sensing satellites:

China successfully launched on 28th December a pair of high-resolution remote sensing satellites to get commercial images. These are launched from Taiyman satellite launching center in shanxi province. These satellites were launched on board of logn March 2D Rocket.

Bihar Govt approves 50% reservation in Judicial Services:

In a historic move, the Bihar Govt has assented to provide 50% reservation to socio-economic weaker sections of the society in lower judiciary in the state. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Bihar cabinet chaired by CM Nitish Kumar. According to statement, 21% seats will be reserved for EBC, 16% for SC, 12% OBC and 1% for St.
