PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates 102nd Session Of The Indian Science Congress

The 102nd session of Indian Science Congress (ISC)  was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3 January at the University of Mumbai. The five-day event will see deliberations and presentation of papers by the scientific fraternity from across the globe. This is after a gap of 45 years that the Science Congress is returning to Mumbai and the emphasis will be on showcasing it as a science city besides being the financial capital of India. Mumbai has world renowned institutes like Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Tata Memorial Centre among others, which will be actively participating in the Science Congress. The theme for 102nd ISC is – “Science and Technology for Human Development.”  Several symposia on relevant themes – Women’s Science Congress, Children Science Congress, Science Exhibition, etc will be organised during the session. A large science exhibition is being organised at the MMRDA Grounds in nearby Bandra-Kurla Complex, which will showcase various science & technology innovations by Indian firms and organisations. ISRO and DRDO will also be participating in this mega exhibition.


R.Koteeswaran Took Charge As New CMD of Indian Overseas Bank

R.Koteeswaran took charge as new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of public sector Indian Overseas Bank (IOB). He succeedded M Narendra. He is appointed for a period of three years or till the date of superannuation, whichever is earlier. Earlier, Koteeswaran was serving as Executive Director of Bank of India.
