Union Government Launches IAP HealthPhone Programme

Union Government has launched IAP HealthPhone programme, world’s largest digital mass education programme to address malnutrition in women and children. It was launched by Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi in New Delhi. This programme was developed by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) in partnership with the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, UNICEF and is supported by Vodafone India.  IAP HealthPhone programme aims to tackle the challenge of malnutrition in mothers and children across India.It is a public-partnership initiative that leverages the increasing penetration of mobile phones in the country to educate over 6 million girls and women between 13 and 35 years of age and their families on better health and nutrition practices by 2018.


Inderjeet Won Gold In Shot Put at 21st Asian Athletics Championships

Inderjeet Singh won gold medal in men’s shot put event in the 21st Asian Athletics Championships on 3 June 2015. Inderjeet, a silver medallist in 2013 World University Games and a bronze medal winner in last year’s Asian Games in Incheon, clinched the gold by heaving the iron ball to a new championship record of 20.41m, which he achieved in his fourth attempt.


India and Belarus Signed Six Agreements

India and Belarus 3 June signed six agreements to enhance bilateral co – operation. These include agreement on Textiles, protocol to amend the agreement between two countries for avoidance double taxation, MOU between Prasar Bharati and National State TV and Radio company of Belarus Broadcasting Corporation in the presence of Indian President and his Belarussian Counterpart.


US President Barack Obama Signed USA FREEDOM Act 2015

US President Barack Obama signed the USA FREEDOM Act 2015 into law. With this, the National Security Agency (NSA) lost its authority to collect the phone records of millions of Americans.
